How To Get Rid of Acne
Acne, acne, acne! The facial scourge of mankind. One of the most common questions we get is, “How do I get rid of my acne?” and, to be honest, it is one of the easiest and most difficult to answer at the same time.
The “How to get rid of acne ” question is easy because, for the most part, the same things that have been working for years are still the best place to start in your acne abatement war. I’m sure you have heard all of these directions since you were in junior high but I’ll go over them again for you.
- Wash your face several times a day. Use a good quality acne soap at least once or twice a day and a glycolic acid face wash at least a couple of times a day as well. Remember, you aren’t trying to scrub the acne away, you are gently cleansing your skin and pores of the contaminates that cause the acne to begin with.
- Until the pimples come to a head, do not try to squeeze them. You will only make them worse by trying to hurry them along.
- Once the pimples come to a head, open them and drain the puss so they can begin to heal more quickly. Do this by first washing your hands thoroughly and then applying gentle pressure to the sides of the pimple without damaging the skin until the pimple opens and drains.
- Try some different over-the-counter medications like Benzoyl Peroxide. There are several different options, find one that works for you.
- If your acne is simply out of control you need to consult a dermatologist and consider using a prescription strength medication or regimen of medicines.
Why is it also one of the hardest questions to answer? Because everyone’s skin and environment are different. Just like the oil concentrations and ph are different for different people, so are the contaminants that they are exposed to every day. Without knowing each person’s exact situation it is impossible to give a satisfactory answer to the question, “How do I get rid of my acne?”
